Lebanon launched the second phase of its organized return program for displaced Syrians on Wednesday, Annahar reported.
The initiative, coordinated by Lebanon’s General Directorate of General Security through the Masnaa border center with Syria, is being carried out in partnership with the Syrian authorities and with support from international and local organizations, including the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Lebanese Red Cross, and other humanitarian groups.
Displaced Syrians participating in the program gathered at the Beirut International Exhibition & Leisure Center (BIEL) before being transported to the border crossing.
Lebanon has hosted one of the largest Syrian populations in the world, with over 1.5 million registered individuals, placing immense pressure on the country’s infrastructure, public services, and economy. The government has repeatedly emphasized the need for international support to address the humanitarian and socio-economic impacts of this displacement.
