Lebanon’s food supply remains secure despite regional tensions, the head of the country’s food importers’ syndicate assured on Monday, seeking to calm public fears amid escalating conflict between Iran and Israel.
Hani Bohsali, president of the Syndicate of Food Importers, urged Lebanese citizens not to panic or rush to stockpile food, assuring that Lebanon currently holds sufficient food reserves to meet domestic demand for around three months.
“Everything is proceeding normally,” Bohsali said in a statement, noting that import operations continue according to their scheduled timelines, helping maintain stable stock levels across the country.
He emphasized that the majority of Lebanon’s food imports arrive by sea, with maritime shipping lanes remaining safely distant from any immediate threats posed by the ongoing regional hostilities. This secure maritime route ensures uninterrupted access to essential food supplies and consumer goods.
Bohsali also highlighted the resilience of Lebanon’s supply chains, which remain largely unaffected by the exchange of military strikes in the region.
“This is a critical factor for Lebanon’s stability,” he said, “and the situation is unlikely to change unless the conflict escalates into a broader regional war.”
He concluded by promising to keep the Lebanese public informed of any significant developments regarding food imports, underscoring the syndicate’s commitment to transparency amid ongoing uncertainty.
