The Lebanese army has successfully dismantled dozens of Hezbollah military sites and facilities in southern Lebanon, confiscating weapons from the locations, a Lebanese security source told China's Xinhua news agency.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, was part of efforts to implement the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, which came into effect on November 27, 2024, following the intense confrontations between the two sides that erupted on October 8, 2023.
“These weapons are being collected at one of the border points located in the western sector of southern Lebanon,” the source told Xinhua, noting that they are being stored in preparation for destruction under the supervision of the five-member committee overseeing the ceasefire agreement.
The Lebanese army, working in close coordination with United Nations forces stationed in the region, has intensified inspections of Hezbollah military sites located south of the Litani River. The aim is to clear the area of any remaining weapons or militants.
