Judge Bitar Will Not Step Away from Beirut Port Blast Case

All available data indicates that Investigative Judge Tarek Bitar has accomplished over 70% of his mission, and is close to revealing the truth behind the August 4, 2020 blast.

However, all of this is in vain since the investigative process has been frozen ever since Judge Bitar issued the indictment list, which includes the names of senior politicians, most notably former Prime Minister Hassan Diab, former Minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khalil, former Ministers of Public Works Ghazi Zaiter and Youssef Fenianos, former Director General of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, current Director General of State Security Major General Tony Saliba, and former Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji.

The freezing of the judicial process falls under local and international scrutiny. There are Western countries, most notably France, that have suffered casualties and placed the entire Lebanese judiciary under scrutiny. They continue to send memoranda questioning the reason behind the obstruction of investigations.

Justice Palace circles indicate that investigations will reach the desired conclusion sought by the families of the victims and all Lebanese people.

They noted that if Judge Bitar had any doubt about the impossibility of accomplishing his mission, he would have stepped away from the case a long time ago.
