Israel Plans for Expanded Military Action in Lebanon If Hezbollah Rejects Ceasefire

The Wall Street Journal reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering plans for a broader incursion into Lebanese territory if Hezbollah continues to refuse to reach a ceasefire agreement.

The report emphasized that this move comes at a highly sensitive time, as the Israeli military continues its air and ground attacks on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, aiming to pressure the group into making concessions.

According to sources cited by the newspaper, Netanyahu's government is contemplating a comprehensive military escalation, including strikes on strategic targets within Lebanon, such as Hezbollah’s rocket-launching sites and weapon storage locations, which are viewed as major threats to Israeli security.

These sources further stated that the final decision on a deeper Israeli incursion into Lebanon will depend on Hezbollah's response. If the group continues to reject a ceasefire, larger military operations could be carried out in the coming weeks.
