Israeli Army Unveils Unit Thwarting Hezbollah Rebuild in Southern Lebanon

The Israeli military on Wednesday disclosed details about operations in southern Lebanon aimed at preventing Hezbollah from restoring its military capabilities, including airstrikes, targeted assaults, and coordinated ground operations.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said the “Shahaf” (869) intelligence unit has conducted a series of missions over the past year under the command of the 91st Division, resulting in the elimination of approximately 60 Hezbollah operatives and the destruction of dozens of infrastructure sites, weapons depots, and observation posts. Recent operations were carried out in Kfar Tebnit and Ain Qana.

Adraee said Shahaf has also supported the Israeli air force and artillery units in precisely targeting Hezbollah positions during hundreds of operations, increasing the effectiveness of strikes across the region.

The Israeli military further announced that as part of ongoing organizational and technological improvements, a new company of female combat troops is set to be established in March to enhance the unit’s operational readiness and capabilities.

“The Shahaf unit is focused on preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding its operational capacity,” Adraee wrote on X.
