Israeli Army Troops on High Alert in Golan Heights Amid Syrian Uncertainty

The Israeli military has deployed troops along the buffer zone estsablished at the border with Syria in the Golan Heights, describing the measure as temporary but acknowledging it may extend based on the evolving situation in Syria. The Israeli army said it would remain on high alert in the Golan Heights, bolstering forward defenses in the region early this morning.

The deployment, carried out in coordination with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), aims to maintain stability in the buffer zone, the army noted, adding that UNDOF personnel remain stationed at their designated posts as the situation unfolds.

Warnings and Defensive Measures

The Israeli army has issued warnings to rebel forces in southern Syria, cautioning them against approaching the buffer zone. Yesterday, the Israeli military intervened with artillery fire to repel gunmen attempting to attack a UN post near the village of Hader.

Although Israel has avoided direct involvement in the Syrian conflict, the Israeli army is closely monitoring developments and tracking the movement of weapons within Syria to prevent their transfer to Hezbollah or other groups that could threaten Israeli security.
