The Israeli military said it has concluded a two-month operation in southern Lebanon aimed at preventing Hezbollah from expanding its presence near the border, announcing that forces from its Multidimensional Unit have completed their mission in the area.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Israeli army said the operation was carried out under the command of the 91st Division and focused on disrupting Hezbollah’s efforts to entrench itself in southern Lebanon. The army said the mission combined intelligence gathering with coordinated ground and air activity.
According to the statement, troops from the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Unit were involved in collecting intelligence, identifying enemy positions and infrastructure, and directing fire. The unit also worked alongside ground and aerial forces to dismantle what the military described as “terrorist infrastructure” and to neutralize Hezbollah operatives.
The Israeli army said the operation included directing airstrikes based on real-time intelligence and assisting other units operating in the field. It released video footage purporting to show the impact of the mission on Hezbollah’s military capabilities, though the footage could not be independently verified.
The army said the activity was part of broader efforts to prevent Hezbollah from establishing new positions in southern Lebanon, an area that has seen heightened tensions in recent months amid exchanges of fire across the border.
