Israeli forces will maintain their presence at five positions inside Lebanon until the Lebanese army fully secures control over the area, an Israeli source told Al Arabiya on Friday.
The source said the Israeli army's deployment aligns with the ceasefire monitoring mechanism, ensuring troops remain in place until the Lebanese military achieves "100% control."
Additionally, the source noted that Israel's military presence in southern Lebanon goes beyond surveillance, aiming to prevent Hezbollah from rearming.
In a related development, a diplomatic source told Al Hadath that Israel does not intend to establish rules of engagement with Hezbollah, indicating that military action would be the preferred approach.
"Israel will work to prevent Hezbollah from re-acquiring weapons and cut off its financial support," the source added, underscoring Israel's broader strategy to weaken the group's influence.
The diplomatic source further observed that while the Lebanese army is attempting to secure certain areas in the south, its presence remains limited in others.
