Israel’s recent military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure was the result of years of meticulous planning and covert action, involving close coordination between the Israeli military and intelligence services, a senior Israeli security official told The Times of Israel.
According to the official, the mission included the unprecedented establishment of a secret drone base on Iranian soil, located near Tehran. The drones launched from that base were reportedly used overnight to hit surface-to-surface missile launchers that had been positioned to strike Israel.
In a separate operation, Israeli forces managed to smuggle advanced weapons systems into Iran. These weapons were used to neutralize Iran’s air defense network, clearing the way for Israeli aircraft to operate with what the official described as “air supremacy and freedom of action” deep within Iranian territory.
A third element of the campaign involved Mossad operatives infiltrating central Iran to position precision-guided missiles near key anti-aircraft sites, enhancing the effectiveness of follow-up strikes.
“These operations were made possible through groundbreaking thinking, bold strategic planning, and the precise deployment of advanced technologies, elite special forces, and undercover agents operating at the very heart of Iran—without detection by local intelligence,” the official said.
