Israel Informed US in Advance of Lebanon Strike, Says Official

An Israeli official revealed on Sunday that Israel had informed the United States in advance of its recent military strike on Lebanon.

The official, who spoke to the Hebrew news site Walla, emphasized that while Israel is acting independently in its operations against Hezbollah, it is doing so in full coordination with the US.

"The Biden administration was not notified at the last minute," the official clarified, indicating that the US had been kept in the loop well ahead of the attack.

A US official also confirmed to Al Arabiya English that recent intelligence had suggested Hezbollah was preparing to launch a large-scale attack on Israel, which likely prompted the preemptive strike. The nature of the intelligence and the specifics of the anticipated Hezbollah attack were not disclosed, but the coordination between Israel and the US highlights the ongoing vigilance and shared interests in countering threats in the region.
