Israeli Channel 12 reported an assassination attempt on Ali Al-Amoudi, whom it described as the successor to Yahya Sinwar in Hamas in the Gaza Strip, noting that the results of the attempt are still unclear.
Israeli Broadcasting Authority "Kan" quoted an Israeli official saying that Al-Amoudi was present in the targeted apartment in Gaza City, and that authorities are waiting for the outcome of the operation to become clear.
Who is Ali Al-Amoudi?
According to the newspaper "Israel Hayom", Al-Amoudi was one of the prisoners released in the Shalit deal in 2011 and was very close to Sinwar, who was assassinated in 2024.
The newspaper added that Al-Amoudi and Sinwar were together in an Israeli prison, and that he participated in the meetings held by Sinwar during his imprisonment.
Yahya Sinwar was killed by Israeli forces in the south of the Gaza Strip last October, a year after the outbreak of war in Gaza, where the Israeli army carried out a military operation in the Rafah area on October 16, 2024, resulting in his assassination, without prior knowledge of his identity.
According to reports, a clash erupted between Israeli forces and Hamas fighters inside one of the buildings, during which tanks and drones were used to locate Sinwar.
