Senior officials from the United States, Israel and the Syrian Arab Republic issued a joint statement on Wednesday following a rare trilateral meeting held under U.S. auspices in Paris, aimed at advancing security cooperation and stability in the Middle East.
The statement, released by the three governments, said the parties reaffirmed their commitment to work “toward achieving lasting security and stability arrangements” for both Israel and Syria, marking an unusual moment of coordinated engagement amid long-standing tensions.
At the heart of the statement is the decision by Israel and Syria to establish a joint fusion mechanism, a dedicated communications cell designed to facilitate “immediate and ongoing coordination on their intelligence sharing, military de-escalation, diplomatic engagement, and commercial opportunities” under United States supervision.
The initiative is intended to serve as a platform to address disputes quickly and prevent misunderstandings that could spark broader conflict, the statement said.
Washington welcomed the positive steps taken during the talks, pledging continued support for implementing the understandings reached, which U.S. officials described as part of broader efforts to achieve enduring peace in the region.
“When sovereign nations cooperate in a respectful and productive way, prosperity will be unleashed,” the statement said, reflecting the U.S. view that collaborative security frameworks can create stability and economic benefit for all parties.
The talks come against a backdrop of heightened U.S. engagement in the region, as Washington pushes for diplomatic channels to reduce hostilities following years of conflict and shifting political dynamics inside Syria.
