Iranian Official: Compromised Pager May Have Caused Raisi's Helicopter Crash

A senior Iranian official has reportedly revealed that Tehran played a role in the acquisition of the pagers used by Hezbollah operatives, which exploded across Lebanon last week in an incident widely blamed on Israel.

The official also hinted that a similar device may have been responsible for the helicopter crash that killed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi back in May.

According to a post on X by Europe-based Iranian journalist Mohamad Ahwaze, Ahmad Bakhshayesh Ardestani, a member of Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, admitted that Hezbollah’s communication network had been compromised.

He confirmed that Hezbollah operatives had been hacked, and that Raisi himself had possessed one of the compromised pagers prior to the fatal crash.
