IMF Engagement Hinges on Lebanon’s Government Formation

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation is expected to visit Lebanon to meet with the newly elected President, Joseph Aoun, and Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam.

Sources within the IMF informed "Nidaa Al-Watan" that "the date of the visit has not yet been set and will not take place in the near future."

It is likely that the IMF will wait for the formation of the new government and the commencement of its work to schedule the visit.

During the visit, the IMF is expected to outline the reform demands that Lebanon must implement. It is worth noting that the IMF has consistently been ready to provide technical assistance to Lebanon, despite the absence of a formal agreement.
