Hezbollah-Israel Conflict Worsens: Airstrikes, Retaliatory Rocket Barrages, and Commanders Targeted

The Israeli army on Sunday reported the launch of 25 rockets and several drones from Lebanon targeting northern Israel. In retaliation, Hezbollah announced that it had successfully struck gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the settlement of Shlomi using a barrage of rockets, along with missile attacks on the Hadr Yarin site.

Hezbollah said it had also launched an attack with a squadron of attack drones at the maintenance and rehabilitation base south of Haifa.

Sirens echoed through the border area of Metula as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalated dramatically.

Israeli aircraft executed a series of airstrikes across the Bekaa Valley, targeting specific sites, including a building near the Maronite National School at the southern entrance of Baalbek and the Qasrnaba area to the west of Baalbek. Strikes were also directed at the outskirts of Tammnin al-Fawqa.

A significant strike hit Baalbek, just 600 meters from the historical Citadel, raising concerns from Baalbek-Hermel Governor Bashir Khodr about the potential negative impacts on this cultural landmark.

According to the Israeli army, over 150 Hezbollah sites were targeted in a single day during ongoing ground operations in southern Lebanon. Troops from the military's 98th and 36th divisions have been actively engaged in locating and dismantling weapon depots, tunnel shafts, and various Hezbollah infrastructures throughout villages in southern Lebanon, it added.

The military reported that soldiers exchanged fire with Hezbollah units and coordinated airstrikes against gunmen and installations affiliated with the militant group.

Israeli warplanes launched a fresh series of airstrikes on Lebanon's southern suburbs, predominantly targeting areas associated with Hezbollah. The airstrikes hit multiple locations, causing widespread alarm and destruction.

According to reports from Lebanon’s National News Agency, one of the primary targets was the Haret Hreik area. Less than half an hour earlier, Israeli jets had carried out an airstrike on Burj Al-Barajneh.

In addition to these strikes, Israeli warplanes targeted a building in the commercial market area of Mouawad. A fierce airstrike also struck the vicinity of the Shiyah-Ghobeiry area, compounding the damage across the southern suburbs.

The Israeli army also claimed killing a senior Hezbollah commander, Hader Ali Taweel, who served as the commander of Kfarkela. Taweel was allegedly responsible for launching hundreds of projectiles and anti-tank missiles towards Israeli communities in northern Israel. Additionally, two other militants, Mohamed Hader and Hassan Nteer el Rasheeni, were reportedly killed in the recent operations.
