Hezbollah Demands Decisive State Response to Israel's Potential Breach of Ceasefire Agreement

With the 60-day deadline for Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territories nearing its end, Hezbollah issued a statement on Thursday, warning against any delay or deviation from the ceasefire agreement.

The group emphasized the need for strict adherence to the agreed-upon timeline, asserting that any breach would be viewed as a blatant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international commitments.

“The 60-day period for the final withdrawal of the Zionist enemy from Lebanese territories is nearing its end, which obliges it to fully and comprehensively implement the provisions of the ceasefire agreement,” Hezbollah stated.

Reports suggesting that Israel may delay its withdrawal or extend its presence in Lebanon have raised alarms within the group. Hezbollah called on the Lebanese government to take decisive action, urging the country’s political leadership to pressure international sponsors of the ceasefire agreement to ensure compliance.

“These reports require immediate action from all parties, particularly the political leadership in Lebanon,” the statement read. “Pressure must be exerted on the countries sponsoring the agreement to ensure active follow-up during the final days of the deadline. This would guarantee a complete withdrawal, the deployment of the Lebanese army to every inch of Lebanese territory, the swift return of displaced residents to their villages, and the prevention of any pretexts or excuses to prolong the occupation.”

Hezbollah made it clear that any failure to meet the 60-day deadline would have serious consequences.

“Any breach of the 60-day deadline constitutes a blatant violation of the agreement, an affront to Lebanese sovereignty, and an extension of the occupation,” the statement declared, calling on the Lebanese state to respond decisively to any such violations, using all available means provided by international law.

“Such actions necessitate a decisive response from the state using all means and methods guaranteed by international charters to reclaim the land and liberate it from the grip of occupation,” the statement continued.

As the deadline looms, Hezbollah emphasized that it is closely monitoring developments and expects a full withdrawal in the coming days. However, it also warned against any attempts by Israel to evade its commitments under “weak pretenses.”

“Any breach of the agreement or attempt to evade its commitments under weak pretenses will not be acceptable,” the group stated. “We call for strict adherence to the agreement, without any concessions.”
