Hankach: The After Demarcation Phase Will Not Be The Same as Before

Kataeb Lawmaker Elias Hankach said that the after demarcation phase would not be the same as before.

“Hezbollah entered a new phase, and what happened is an armistice with Israel. It cannot continue imposing its control as in the past. It has to perform responsibly in the interest of Lebanon,” Hankach said in an interview with MTV.

“The maritime border demarcation agreement is not constitutionally immune, since it did not pass by the Parliament, so that they could find a justification if it was breached one day,” he continued.

Hankach pointed out that there were no means to elect new Head of State except by Berri’s invitation for dialogue.

“Lebanon's fate depends on presidential elections sessions. Lawmakers are responsible for electing a new president,” he stated.

Hankach also emphasized that Kataeb Party had participated and was still participating in all the presidential election sessions.

“Nothing justifies the delay of a dialogue relating to the election of a new president,” he concluded.
