“Large numbers of people continue to flee their homes every day, as Israel’s military operations in Lebanon have been going on unabated.” These disturbing words could be from almost any news report about Israel’s invasion of its northern neighbour over the past month. Kataeb lawmaker Elias Hankach on Monday called on the Lebanese army to deploy helicopters to extinguish the fire that broke out this morning in Roumieh, Metn district, saying that the fire was arson.
"The fire was arson, people were arrested yesterday collecting firewood in Roumieh but they were released later,” Hankach said in an interview with MTV.
"It is difficult to reach the place where the fire started, especially since the winds impede the extinguishing process," he added.
He also praised the members of Civil defense alongside volunteer teams who participated in the operations to contain the fire.
