General Security Announces New Passport Application Procedure During Administrative Workers Strike

Those who have scheduled an appointment online to renew their biometric passport no longer need to present an Ekhraj al-Qaid (individual civil status extract) because of the administrative workers’ strike, General Security announced Friday.

"Due to the civil servants' strike and the impossibility of obtaining new individual civil status extracts, and to facilitate applications for obtaining biometric passports for those who have made an appointment on the platform and who meet the specific conditions, the management of the General Security announces that it accepts applications for the renewal of these passports without the need to present an extract from individual civil status," said the Management of General Security on Friday.

General Security said that for first-time passport applicants, an individual civil status extract not older than one year old (or else issued after 2017 and duly certified within the previous three months) is still required, or an ID card. Applications to replace lost passports still require an ID card as well.
