Albeit under new management, the state remains stuck between a mountain of debt, a sea of social and economic inequalities, and a black hole in place of once efficient (more or less) institutions. No local or global stakeholder disagrees on the baseline: the country urgently needs tangible trust and solidarity – in form of investments and loans – as much as extreme determination to have a chance of escaping this maelstrom.

French Minister Barrot Engages Lebanon, Prepares for Syria Visit
"Al-Markazia" news agency has learned that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri earlier today, will travel to Syria to meet with Syria's de facto leader Ahmed al-Sharaa.
He is expected to return to Beirut shortly thereafter and depart from there to return to his country.
It is worth noting that French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu, who arrived in Beirut last Monday alongside his colleague Barrot, left after visiting the headquarters of the French forces operating within the framework of "UNIFIL" in the South.
