The Head of the Lawsuit Department at the Justice Ministry, Judge Helena Iskandar, has started studying the decision of the French Court of Appeal after receiving it.
According to the decision, the assets of Lebanon's Central Bank Governor, Riad Salameh, and his close associates in Europe, as well as their properties, were seized and the seizure was confirmed in favor of the Lebanese state.
The Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Anba" reported that the value of the seized properties exceeds 70 million euros and belongs to Riad Salameh, his brother Raja, his assistant Marianne Hoayek, and his Ukrainian friend Anna Kazakova.
The seized assets include luxury residential properties, apartments, and commercial companies.
The Lawsuit Department is making efforts to freeze the bank accounts of Riad Salameh, his brother Raja, and Hoayek in the Central Bank of Lebanon and commercial banks.
However, there are obstacles due to banking secrecy and the banks' refusal to disclose the value of the funds they hold because many accounts are believed to be in the names of other individuals.
