Fayad: QatarEnergy and Total Will Begin Drilling in First Half of August

Caretaker Energy Minister Walid Fayad considered that the partnership between Qatar and Total for the extraction of offshore oil and gas paves the way for more investments and joint projects, stressing that Qatar's presence as a strategic partner in Lebanon's energy sector is very important, helping to boost investor confidence and provide lasting solutions for stability.

"We have sensed positive and promising vibes from Total, Eni, and QatarEnergy regarding the existence of commercial quantities of gas in Block 4, especially Block 9. The fields that we see in the two-dimensional and three-dimensional charts are positive, and we expect drilling to commence in the first half of August, with a duration of 90 to 100 days, which means before the end of the year," Fayad indicated in an interview with Al Sharq newspaper.

"If gas is discovered during this period, Lebanon will be placed on the gas map in the region and the world, which will provide greater confidence in Lebanon's economic future and therefore cover its investment needs and a portion of its debt," he added.
