Claire's Makeup Products Found to Contain Cancer-Causing Substance

The Food and Drug Administration has warned against a substance linked to cancer, asbestos, found in some of Claire’s cosmetic products.

In a statement, Claire's contested the findings, assuring, however, that it took out the three products listed by the FDA:

- Eye Shadows – Batch No/Lot No: 08/17

- Compact Powder – Batch No/Lot No: 07/15

- Contour Palette – Batch No/Lot No: 04/17.

The agency explained that talc is usually found in makeup and personal care products, and can be contaminated with asbestos.

"Consumers who have these batches/lots of Claire's Eye Shadow, Compact Powder, and Contour in their home should stop using them. Claire's has informed us that it does not believe that affected products are still available for sale,” the FDA said.
