In a statement released by its press office on Monday, Dar al-Fatwa emphasized that Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdellatif Derian “maintains impartiality in the elections for the Supreme Islamic Sharia Council in Beirut and all Lebanese governorates.” 

The statement clarified that “Derian does not interfere in the formation of the Islamic Sharia Council's electoral lists and does not endorse any specific candidate or group.” 

This response was prompted by reports from “certain newspapers with a reputation for unreliable information and distorting the facts.”
