Customs Dollar Reaches 86,000 LBP

Starting today and until May 31st, Lebanon will apply the new customs dollar rate of 86,000 LBP in calculating fees and taxes on imported goods and commodities, to provide financial liquidity to the state allowing it to pay planned salary increases at the end of this month, along with the salaries and pensions of next June.

In a similar economic move, which could alleviate financial pressures on fuel prices caretaker Energy and Water Minister Walid Fayyad approved in a circular the pricing of fuel in US dollars.
