The Constitutional Council has annulled the parliament membership of Rami Fanj and Firas Salloum, and declared the victory of Faisal Karame and Haidar Assef Nasser respectively.
The fact that the Constitutional Council did not reach a decision Dec. 21 on the Free Patriotic Movement’s appeal of amendments that Parliament made to electoral law no. 44 of 2017 has perhaps met the desire of a large segment of expatriate voters who are eager for change in the legislative elections of May 2022.
Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Friday deemed the mere discussion of overthrowing the investigations of the Beirut Port blast ,preventing 240,000 Lebanese from voting in the elections and disrupting the government as a crime, saying that all of this is an indication of the high level of political immorality that has been practiced for some time.
The Kataeb party on Wednesday deemed what happened in the Constitutional Council as a rescue of the electoral process and a victory for the Lebanese' will in the face of the system’s settlements to escape accountability.
