Rebuilding economies after conflict is a daunting challenge, especially in the Middle East, where decades of war have left lasting scars on economic structures and societies. Banque du Liban (BDL) issued a statement directing local banks to release an amount equivalent to two monthly payments to the beneficiaries of Circulars 158 and 166 by early December.
This move is part of ongoing efforts to address Lebanon's economic difficulties.
The statement further clarified that, despite the urgency of the situation, the provisions of these circulars will remain in effect through January.
In addition, BDL has revised these circulars to allow beneficiaries of one circular to access the benefits of the other once the first is fully used, without having to wait until the end of the annual cycle, which runs from July 1 to June 30.
