Ed Sheeran has been ranked as the UK’s most-played artist in 2018 for the second year in a row, noting that he didn't even release any new music during the year.
The singer-songwriter has held the top spot in three out of the last four years (2015, 2017 and 2018), and seized a top five rank in the most-played artists five times since his first album was released in 2011.
The chart is released by music licensing company PPL which counts each play an artist gets from broadcasters and in public places such as pubs and shops.
"Radio, TV and public performance usage is a significant indicator of the most played music in the country, so PPL is pleased to report a successful 2018 for home-grown UK talent,” PPL chief executive Peter Leathem, stated.
Nine of the top 10 most-played artists of 2018 were British, with P!nk being the only non-UK artist featured in the list.
The top ten ranking includes: Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris, Little Mix, Rita Ora, Coldplay, P!nk, Clean Bandit, Dua Lipa, George Ezra, and Jess Glynne.
