Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Waleed Bukhari told Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi in their latets meeting that “an effective international drive will begin in February in order to secure the election of a president” for Lebanon, an informed source said.

Al-Rahi was relieved by what he heard and expressed satisfaction over the role of the five-nation group for Lebanon, the source told ad-Diyar newspaper in remarks published Wednesday.

The daily also reported that “the MPs of the opposition are also carrying out contacts with political parties in a bid to activate the presidential file.”
