Caretaker Foreign Minister, Abdallah Bou Habib, criticized US envoy Amos Hochstein for avoiding engagement with Lebanon's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Bou Habib also expressed strong disapproval of caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati's inaction on this matter.
During an interview on Tele Liban, Bou Habib extended his criticism towards Mikati, accusing him of overstepping his role as Foreign Minister by attempting to centralize authority within himself.
He cited instances where Mikati met international envoys alone and instructed ambassadors to leave after taking photos, highlighting a misunderstanding in Lebanon's foreign policy.
However, Bou Habib also hinted at a smooth relationship with House Speaker, Nabih Berri, but acknowledged differences with Mikati regarding fears of war. Regarding the Israeli aggression, Bou Habib dismissed the likelihood of a ground war, foreseeing a prolonged war of attrition through drones.
He reiterated opposition to partial solutions regarding Israel's withdrawal from disputed territories, linking Hezbollah's withdrawal from border areas to decisions by oil companies on gas exploration.
Bou Habib supported former President Michel Aoun's stance on unity but emphasized dealing with realities.
He stressed the need to enhance the army's capabilities, particularly in southern Lebanon.
Discussing the Syrian refugee crisis, Bou Habib noted a conspiracy against Lebanon but emphasized the need for cautious approaches.
On the presidential front, he insisted on internal consensus for electing a president, rejecting external imposition while acknowledging external pressures.
