Biden to Mikati: United States Will Continue to Work to Maintain Peace and Prevent Expansion of Conflict

American President Joe Biden confirmed that "the United States will continue to work closely with Lebanon and partners in the Middle East to maintain peace and prevent the expansion of conflict."

In a telegram he sent to caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on the occasion of Independence Day, Biden pointed out that "through our shared commitment to stability and prosperity in the region, the long-term relationship between Lebanon and the United States is of great importance in building a better future for our peoples and all peoples around the world."

"The United States will continue to work closely with Lebanon and partners in the Middle East to maintain peace and prevent the expansion of conflict. I also look forward to working with you in the coming year to shape a more secure, prosperous, and integrated future for the peoples of the region," he affirmed.

Mikati also received a congratulatory telegram from the King of Jordan, Abdallah II bin Al Hussein, and from the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as well as from the presidents of Austria and Ireland, and from the prime ministers of Russia, Armenia, and Hungary.
