Speaker Nabih Berri met on Sunday evening with Progressive Socialist Party Leader Walid Joumblatt at Ain EL-Tineh with talks featuring high on the general situation in Lebanon and latest political developments.

"The visit is for continuous communication with a friend and ally. We should congratulate Speaker Berri on his efforts regarding the demarcation process which bore fruit, and perhaps the circumstances helped, but he initiated it,” Joumblatt said.

On the presidential elections, Joumblatt said that both of them agreed that there would be no challenging candidate.

“Speaker Berri did not back down from national dialogue, but unfortunately some parties have retreated, and this is a mistake,” Joumblatt pointed out when asked whether Speaker Berri has withdrawn the call for dialogue.

He also highlighted the importance of electing a president who would hold the dialogue and address all national issues including administrative decentralization the abolition of political sectarianism and having a Senate.
