Beiruti Explains Tourists' Reasons to Visit Lebanon

Secretary General of the Federation of Tourism Establishments Jean Beiruti on Wednesday affirmed that the tourism sector’s importance resided in injecting the much-needed dollar, jump-starting the economy, and raising the income of workers in the said sector.

“Expats’ investments carry weight in Lebanon, they watch the news and have already learned about the political map and the hit-and-run political tactics. However, what still brings them back home is the cheapness, stability; particularly after the parliamentary elections, security, and the long-waited visit to Lebanon after a two-year interruption due to the Coronavirus outbreak,” Beiruti affirmed during an interview with Voice of Lebanon Radio Station.

He considered that Lebanon had become a wedding site too.

“The main tourists today are Lebanese, Iraqi, Jordanian, and Egyptian, yet the Gulf tourists to Lebanon remain the most crucial considering the fact that they inject fresh dollars while the European’s expenditure does not exceed 2,500 dollars,” he said.

“Our concern today is about what will happen next after August 15 when tourists or expats double back. What is awaiting the Lebanese economy?” he concluded.
