Banks Association Says Arbitrary Summonings Will Not Solve Systemic Crisis

The Association of Banks announced that Lebanese banks would begin an open-ended strike starting today, noting that ATM machines will continue to provide basic services.

It affirmed that the systemic crisis would not be solved through the arbitrary summonings of banks under charges of money laundering.

The association noted that banks called on the Lebanese State to adopt a law that completely abolishes banking secrecy in a bid to end the charade of accusations thrown at them.
