Head of the General Labor Union, Bechara al Asmar, said that the living conditions of the Lebanese were getting worse as a result of the stifling economic and financial crisis that the country has been witnessing for more than three years
Al Asmar confirmed in an interview with AlAnba newspaper that " The increases in salaries and wages no longer have value and are not in line with the requirements of a decent life.”
He added, "A single family consisting of four members needs at least 40 million LBP per month in order to lead a decent and acceptable life.”
And he announced that "more than 800,000 workers in the public and private sectors are awaiting the cabinet session in order to approve decrees to increase the minimum wage and its appendices in the private sector, and to increase the transportation allowance and the grant for productive presence in the public sector and the military.”
