Abboud: Beirut Airport Sees Daily Influx of 14,000 Passengers as Travel Surge Continues

The head of the Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, Jean Abboud, announced on Monday that the average number of passengers arriving daily at Beirut Airport is around 14,000, anticipating that the summer season of 2024 will be similar to the previous one if the current trend continues.

"As of today, between 85 and 90 planes are landing at Beirut Airport daily, with occupancy rates exceeding 96%," the National News Agency quoted Abboud as saying. "The Middle East Airlines and other companies are adding additional flights for various destinations to meet the high demand."

Abboud explained that bookings for July and August are still on the rise, highlighting that June witnessed remarkable results with more than 420,000 arrivals during the month.

He also pointed out that Arab tourists, notably Jordanians, Iraqis and Egyptians, make up about 25% of the total arrivals, whereas the number of European tourists coming to Lebanon remains negligible.
