17 Countries Are Expected to Take Legal Action Against Riad Salameh

According to a reliable source within the Court of Cassation, 17 countries plan to follow France's lead in taking legal action against Riad Salameh, the Lebanese Central Bank Governor.

The source noted that these developments are putting significant pressure on the Lebanese judiciary. With such a large number of lawsuits to deal with, it will be challenging to open a separate file for each case and potentially hold a separate trial for each country's file.

The source suggested that the judicial authorities in Lebanon may eventually decide to consolidate these cases into a single file, given the similarities and overlapping nature of the alleged crimes.

Public Prosecution sources have reported that Judge Imad Qabalan received a call from a judicial official in Hungary who informed him that one million dollars belonging to Salameh had been confiscated and deposited in a Hungarian bank.

The Hungarian official acknowledged that the amount was seized for the benefit of the Lebanese treasury and requested an account number in Beirut to transfer the funds to.
