The Israeli army reported significant losses inflicted on Hezbollah in the past 14 months of intense fighting, estimating that around 3,500 Hezbollah operatives have been killed, with the majority of casualties occurring during the ground offensive in southern Lebanon launched in late September.
In addition to the fatalities, the Israeli army estimates that at least double that number—around 7,000 Hezbollah fighters—have been seriously or moderately wounded and are no longer able to engage in combat. This has led the Israeli military to assess Hezbollah as being significantly weakened, although it still retains a portion of its operational capabilities.
According to the Israeli army, Hezbollah’s forces are now operating with about half of their original military strength.
